Prior to my primary role as “mom” I used to be a teacher. I used to think I knew sooo much about kids. After having my firstborn, I realized that working with young children for several years did very little to prepare me for becoming a parent. But that’s okay because I’m picking this parenting thing up as I go. I am still waiting to receive my mother-of-the-year award but in the meantime I’m trying to keep this parenting thing as simple and easy-peasy as possible. Let’s face it, moms (and dads) put too much pressure on themselves. We are being bombarded with information on the “Best” ways to raise our kids all day, every day and it’s exhausting. So let’s all take a deep breath, take a step back and figure out how to do this with the best intentions in mind for our kids but also in a way that allows us to feel calm, less-stressed and able to enjoy the lives we are living.

My goal with this blog is to share with you some of the simple things I do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in my role as “parent”. I have a particular passion for doing new and exciting activities with my kids but I like to keep it easy- a few supplies, little prep and FUN. I also have a few ideas on organization, taking care of yourself and other parenting stuff that I hope you will use and enjoy.

No, I do not have all the answers and yes, I am often (usually?) a stressed-out, over-tired mommy living in a chaotic, messy house just like many other parents out there. But everyday I’m trying to find new and uncomplicated ways to keep things running smoothly.  So I hope you’ll join with me in trying to Keep it Simple, Mama.
